A fisherman's funeral
Many artists who worked on the Zuiderzee coast were deeply stirred by the lot of the fisher people and the heavy and dangerous work they performed. This resulted in either dramatic or picturesque paintings. The French artist Hanicotte worked in Volendam from 1899 onward.
